The Knicks finally got a win last night that snapped a six game losing skid. Most Knicks fans I have talked to were starting to become nauseous at the sight of the losing streak. Wilson Chandler finally busted out of his slump and Amar'e Stoudemire stepped it up to score 30 points. Now, the Knicks will host Miami on Thursday on NBA TNT.
With all that aside, the bigger picture still remains and the trade deadline gets closer each day. With new reports from different sources, one being Alan Hahn from Newsday.
"Initially it was believed that Randolph would be used to acquire a first-round pick, which teams such as the Pacers, Trail Blazers and Timberwolves were willing to offer for the 21-year-old forward. The Knicks could then flip that pick to the Denver Nuggets, who are seeking multiple first-round picks as part of a package for their superstar.
But Randolph might not get moved for a pick after all, because a person with knowledge of the Nuggets’ thinking told Newsday that Denver might ask that he be included in the negotiations."
This indicates the Nuggets would be interested in actually acquiring Anthony Randolph rather than the Knicks having to trade him elsewhere for a first round pick. This is good news because Landry Fields has been the better player this year for the Knicks and seems to be sparred in this episode of the negotiation.
The overall turning factor here that Knicks fans need to realize is the ability of Donnie Walsh and company to keep things hush. Of course we know Walsh probably spoke to Denver on a number of occasions trying to come up with the, "perfect," trade scenario. The one thing Walsh has done is play dumb through the whole process. Keeping the team in New York focused and telling the media and fan base nothing has been said or done. Denver loves that.
Remember when New Jersey was hot on 'Melo's tail? Yeah they talked and over-hyped themselves right out of a deal because they couldn't keep things in house. Walsh, the "Don Father," has the right mindset. In due time there will be an offer because the Big Apple is 'Melo's one and only preferable destination. In the end, Denver would rather get something rather than nothing and wait until free agency to lose the star. Expect something done by the deadline if not sooner if the guidelines of a deal permit.
