Kalenna Azubuike has been rehabbing a serious knee injury all season and was one of the components who came over from Golden State in the David Lee deal. When Lee was dealt, I was intrigued in what Azuibuke had to offer. The first thing is his spot up ability and range. Azubuike can surely knock down the three ball. Secondly, barring what percent his knee actually gets back to, he can get out on the break and finish. This gives the Knicks another option off the bench at the shooting guard and possibly small forward spot to provide energy and instant offense. That is something Knicks need to find with their second unit with the exception of Toney Douglas the other night (10-for-12).
Defensively, I'm not too sure what Azubuike has to offer, but he is one of the names that has been thrown on the back burner because of his injury rehab. Not seeing Azubuike suit up yet should be a good motive for anticipation for Knicks fans. Teamming with the newly acquired crew, you should see Billups, 'Melo, Amar'e, Turiaf, Fields, Douglas, Williams, Walker, Azubuike getting most of the minutes. And according to Hahn, he's very close to making his return to the hardwood, this time in Blue and Orange.
