On Friday, the Miami Dolphins and defensive end Marques Douglas agreed to a 2 year deal believed to be worth $2.5 million.
After projected starting defensive end Phillip Merling went down this week with a torn Achilles Tendon, the Dolphins needed to act quick in order to bring someone in to compete for the starting job in next weeks first practice of Training Camp.
Douglas is experienced in Fins defensive coordinators system, having been with Nolan in stops with the Baltimore Ravens, and the San Francisco 49ers.
Douglas spent all of last year with the rival New York Jets, so he will add to the rivalry this year, and perhaps share with the Fins some of the knowledge that he knows of Rex Ryan's defense.
If Douglas cannot beat out rookie Jared Odrick for the starting right defensive end job, he will provide depth at the least, which is not frowned upon to have in the NFL these days.
At 6'2, 290, Douglas is not one of the prolific pass rushers of the NFL, but an experienced run-stuffer, which the team loves to have in their defensive lineman.
