Veteran safety Deon Grant has signed a 1 year deal with Big Blue.
The Giants needed a 3rd safety, and didn't want to use 6th round pick Tyler Sash as their 3rd.
Last season the Giants played with Phillips, Rolle and Grant on the field during passing situations, and they will likely do the same this year.
First off, Sash can now be polished and guided by Grant this season, which should help Sash in the future.
With Prince Amukamara and Bruce Johnson injured and out for the season, the Giants knew they needed one more guy in the secondary.
Grant said he got offers from other teams, but he wanted to beat the Eagles.
"I want to beat Philly and all those guys they got, that's why I'm here." Grant explained during his press conference.
Grant also hinted that the Eagles gave him an offer. He didn't do what Steve Smith did. He wants the challenge, and hes a competitor.
Then a reporter asked him about the Eagles dream team.
"That's the type of team I love to face." he said. He also said he thought that dream teams were reserved for the Pro Bowl.
As I said earlier, with Grant back, the struggling Sash can learn from a veteran safety like Grant. Grant is a huge pick up, even though we had him last season. He made 72 tackles last season, and should be able to make more this season. Deon will also get his #34 jersey back from Da'rel Scott, the rookie running back from Maryland as they worked out a deal.
Many people are low on GM Jerry Reese, as well as me, but Grant was a player the Giants did need. Now they need to pick up another player, just don't know where, when, who, or what.
