I've always been a firm believer in defense winning you championships. The ability to stop the ball, force turnovers and put the opposing team in uncomfortable situations offensively is truly a gift. A gift that is so expensive the Knicks can't seem to afford. The Knicks defense is absolutely putrid at times and it needs to improve moving forward.
I know coach D'Antoni is not the defensive mastermind in the NBA and preaches his 7 seconds or less offensive style. But defense doesn't come from x's and o's. It comes from heart and determination on the floor. The Knicks players need to dig in and lock guys down on defense if the expect to make any noise in the playoffs this year. Plain and simple.
Some of you reading may act like I am being very negative. I'm not. I'm stating the facts. After watching the game Sunday against the Sixers, its very evident where the Knicks suffer the most. Ball movement. When the other team is able to set screens and move the ball around the perimeter, the Knicks are more vulnerable than that chick on a first date. They are easily out of position, the recovery speed lacks and therefore teams get wide open looks at the basket.
The Knicks can certainly score the basketball there is no question about that. The defense is and will continue to be the achilles heal of the beloved Knicks faithful if there is no improvement with the on-court defensive mentality.
Peace Up, Threes Down!
