In Saturday night action from the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, “Bad” Chad Dawson (31-1, 17 KO’s) was too much for 47-year-old WBC light heavyweight world champion Bernard “The Executioner” Hopkins (52-6-2, 32 KO’s). In the end, the younger challenger took the title by scores of 117-111, 117-111, and 114-114.

 

In the much hyped rematch of last October’s no-contest, Hopkins tried to clinch and frustrate the challenger and drew blood with a 4th round head-butt and an 8th round punch. As the fight worked into the later rounds though, Dawson continued to press onward and was able to outwork and outpace Hopkins, leading to the decision.
