Johnny Damon will remain a member of the Detroit Tigers. Damon has a no trade list and the Boston Red Sox were on it unfortunately for the Red Sox. Damon will finish out the season in Detroit, and hopes to return to Detroit the next season.
Yesterday the Red Sox claimed Damon off waivers hoping to add some outfield help with Jacoby Ellsbury back on the disabled list. Damon could have been a very viable solution for the Red Sox in Left Field. Unfortunately for the Sox Damon has other plans.
“I am staying,” said Damon.
The Red Sox would have loved to have gotten their hands on Damon, but will continue to rely on the likes of Bill Hall, Ryan Kalish, Daniel Nava, and Eric Patterson to man the outfield. JD Drew will of course be in right, but who knows who will man left and center.
In other Red Sox news catcher Kevin Cash has been activated off of the disabled list. Catcher Dusty Brown has been optioned back to AAA Pawtucket.
