The Boston Celtics don't need 1 player to propel them to victory. They don't need to rely on the 3 ball to give them any chance of winning. No, instead they take their variety of talents and use each players individual capabilities in the most efficient manner possible.
Tonight was no different. 6 players recorded double digit scoring, and 3 players had double digit rebounds. The Celtics demolished the Knicks on the glass, outrebounding them 54-38. Despite the fact that the Knicks aren't nearly as lengthy as the C's, it is a good sign, and exactly what we need to bring home more victories.
Huge, and I mean HUGE games were posted by Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce, but more specifically Rajon Rondo. Rondo deserves his own seperate post, so I will keep it short: He had a triple double with 10 points / 10 boards / 24 Assists. Wow.
Paul Pierce was a very pleasant surprise by bringing down 14 rebounds. It was good to see him underneath doing what we know he can do, its just a matter of how much we actually want to see him down there every game with the potential of getting hurt amoungst the big guys.
Then Kevin Garnett was back to his old form with a double-double. In a very impressive manner, Garnett went 12-17 for 24 points and 10 rebounds. His jump shot was pure, which is a thing of beauty and makes the Celtics offense very difficult to guard.
Final note on the game: The Celtics CAN NOT try to run the clock out at the end of games. This leads to nothing good. That is not how they are used to playing. They should continue doing what they did throughout the game that got them the 10 point lead. Running the shot clock down and throwing up the "best look possible" (which always ends up being an extremely horrible look) reaps poor results. This is why the Celtics found themselves in a tight one down the stretch when it never should have turned into what it did.
