As the National Hockey League regular season ends, you probably noticed that the up and coming St. Louis Blues were missing again from the postseason dance.  It is a troubling thing given the many reasons for optimism on this squad.  The young, talented scorers like David Backes (31-31-62) and the upgrade in goaltending with Jaroslav Halak (27-21, 2.48 GAA and 7 shutouts) promised more than was delivered.  Something was still missing from this puzzle.  It is true that Halak struggled at times this season, however I do not think that is the reason the Blues are watching the Cup playoffs at home (or logging on to Hockeyfanland for their info).  The Blues have not had a go to goal scorer.  Anyone who reads my posts knows I think this a very important element...
