Chelsea's Didier Drogba Misses A Game Winning Penatly Kick In Stoppage Time
It's no secret that the defending Premier League champions have been struggling as of late, but on Sunday's fixture with Tottenham, Chelsea had the chance to bounce back to the top of the board.
The Hotspurs took the early lead when Roman Pavlyuchenko juked and jived past a sloppy Chelsea defense and sent one past Petr Cech.
Didier Drogba came in at half time in hopes of a late Chelsea surge. The Ivory Coast international knocked in his first goal since October in the 70th minute of play.
Time was winding down and appeared this match was going to be even. Unfortunately for the White Hart Lane faithful, their keeper, Gomes, made a reckless play in the penalty box in stoppage time. The ref pointed to the stop and the fan's heart skipped a beat.
Drogba stepped up to the plate to clinch the victory. The PK was sent and Gomes stuffed it, thus, redeeming himself. And that was all she wrote.
DROGBA MISSED THE PK!!!
This is unthinkable and unforgivable. A player of his caliber cannot and should not ever miss a PK.
It's true Drogba has been suffering with Malaria, but I didn't know a symptom was missing a PK.
Didier... more like Didn'tier.
