Was it really that big of a surprise to you that the Chicago Bulls and Boston Celtics went into an overtime game? After the 2009 playoffs it should have been what you expected. Heck, why did we even tune into the first 4 quarters?
Anyways, the C's put together a great first half, but let their lead slip some in the 3rd, but mostly the 4th quarter. Similar to the Milwaukee Bucks game on Wednesday night, the Celtics had to be the more efficeient and clutch team when it mattered most.
Because of last year we are kind of used to them falling apart when the other team starts coming back. It's not the same this year. Instead, the Celtics hold their ground and get even more focused.
The Bulls took their first lead since the 1st quarter late in the 4th. Back and forth they went until finally the Bulls had the ball with an attempt to finish out the game. Rose basically dribbled the clock out and the Bulls never got a shot off.
Onto overtime at home.. Are you kidding me? The Celtics in overtime at home are a lock. They executed to perfection. A huge Ray Allen three, and a monsterous Ray Allen dunk put the Celtics in the drivers seat in overtime. All of Chicagos hope for winning was taken away when Kevin Garnett ran up behind Noah on a fast break to tip the ball away for the steal. There isn't a better way to end the game.
The C's needed this win. After the loss in Cleveland I said the Celtics had to win the next three games going into their tough road stretch. They did just that, and now they are headed out to play Oklahoma City, Dallas, Miami, and Memphis. Phew, what a stretch. I'm hoping for 2-2 out of this road trip.. Lets see if they can get it done.
