Tonight the NBA league office officially released the schedule for opening night and Christmas day. Before the big announcement on NBA TV it was assumed the Celtics would play the Heat on opening night. That proved true a few moments ago.
The defending Eastern Conference champs will take on the wannabe "Big Three" that the Miami Heat assembled. The countdown begins now. The time we are all waiting on is October 26th at 7:30pm.
While announcing the opening night lineup - which also includes Rockets-Lakers for the late night game - the league also released the always popular Christmas day schedule. This year the Celtics will once again be taking their talents to Orlando for a 2:30pm tip-off.
Here is the full NBA lineup for Christmas day:
Bulls at Knicks - 12:00
Celtics at Magic - 2:30
Heat at Lakers - 5:00
Nuggets at Thunder - 8:00
Blazers at Warriors - 10:30
That right there is one heck of a day of basketball. The NBA totally manipulated it's teams here. Talk about cash money, David Stern will be laughing in his sleep on Christmas Eve.
A rematch of last year's Eastern Conference Finals. The three-headed billy goat vs. Kobe and the defending NBA champions. Two big market teams in New York and Chicago facing off. Two of the top contenders in the west battling to see who is the best team out west aside from the Lakers. And then... well I guess if I'm tired I might go to bed before 10:30.
Hey what the heck, I can't complain, though. I'll be watching all day after I open presents and eat a delicious Christmas day meal.
