Saturday, February 27th, 2010 VS. New Jersey Nets -- Lose at home 104-96 with a day of rest.. That's the worst game right? Wrong.
Wednesday, March 10th, 2010 VS. Memphis Grizzlies-- Lose at home 111-91
That is the game I would like to erase from my memory completely.
On a personal note, March 10th is my birthday. I had just got done eating cake, opening a few gifts, and was ready to watch the C's put a beatdown on the Grizzlies. I couldn't have been more disappointed as the team not once.. NEVER had a lead in this game.
On a basketball note, this was the most disgraceful game of the season. No, the Boston Celtics should not be losing to the New Jersey Nets. However, it is possible when nothing is going right. And yes.. The Grizzlies are a good team so it shouldn't surprise you if the C's did lose a regular season game to them. That isn't the point, though. The point is the way in which they lost. There was zero effort, and zero focus.
It was the ultimate low point in the season. The Celtics fans booed, as loud as I have heard them boo (the home team) off the floor at the half. This was the game in which Kevin Garnett [allegedly] walked through the tunnel at the half and told the booing fans to "not come out to watch then" (paraphrased).
Via North Station Sports the day after this game:
The body language, the rhetoric, you name it.. anyway you look at it last night was the worst loss of the Big Three Era. This team resembles a YMCA over 30 rec-league. They have played like losers recently but now they even look (and sound) like losers trying to search for anything to excuse their poor play. Today is a sad day.
As much as we like to stay positive, I had to bring this game up. Why? Well for the most part I HAVE forgotten this game. Looking at how this game went, and the posts from other blogs such as...
Celtics Blogs: Boston, We Have a Problem
Reds Army: Epic Fail
... it makes it weird to look back on. Smaller scale games like these were occuring throughout the season but we have kind of forgotten these memories.
I challenge you to look back at the regular season archives on the Celtics Blogs across the Net. I bet you will find yourself thinking, "This is so weird that this stuff happened."
