It seems former Iowa Hawkeyes head basketball coach Steve Alford is having the time of his life in New Mexico.

The No. 12 ranked Lobos (25-3 overall, 10-2 MWC) helped Alford achieve a historic mark in his career the other night by winning his 300th Division I win as head coach (Southwest Missouri, Iowa and New Mexico). It was their tenth-straight win overall.

With just two games remaining against teams with winning records, his team is expected to reach the NCAA tournament with a fairly high seed.

"He's a great coach and a great leader, on and off the floor," said UNM forward Roman Martinez. "He deserves everything he gets. It was really big for him. We gave him the game ball afterward. It was huge."
