Capitals are coming off their best season ever, President's trophy, and high expectations to make the Stanly Cup Finals. I thnk the only thing that is goign to stop the Caps is the Caps. If they don't play all out, playoff style defense they will dramatically decrease their chances to even reach the Finals. Blockign shots, being discipline, and giving their all on the defensive end is what it takes to win in the playoffs. Coming in everone knows they have a great offense, but you can't just be a good offensive team and win the Stanley Cup, it is all going to depend on how much they want it.
The last two seasons the Caps have gone 7 games in the first round when they shouldn't have, they have seemed to wear down last year versus the Penguins in game 7 of the conference semifinals. This year they need to start off fast and not take anything or any team for granted, they are so much better than the Montreal Canadians, who they play in the first round of the playoffs, but they can't over them. The Capitals need take them out in 4 or 5 games to they can get some rest in between the next series to heal and get ready for the next match up.
Another question the Caps have is at goalie, with the way Jose Theodore came in last year and played terribly fans have had their questions about him all year. But Theodore has been solid all year, and Varlamov has failed to seize the opportunities he has been given. So it is time to get behind Jose Theodore, grow your playoff beard, and rock the red!
