Going into tonight, this game only kind of interested me. The Celtics had already done what I wanted them to do (go at least 2-2 on the road trip), and it was against a team tha tis kind of, not interesting when playing us. There is no bad blood, extremely intriguing matchups, nothing. However, as the night went on the game grew on me.
Suddenly 2-2 wasn't enough, and the C's had to win this game. After being up 11 the Celtics had to pull this game out. They were ahead the entire game, so for them to let another game slip would be a disappointment. They already let the game in Dallas slip through their fingers.
In the first 4 quarters of this game, it really felt like the Celtics were a victim of missed opportunities. They had a chance to push big leads but never did.. They were up by 4 points with roughly 45 seconds left, and couldnt hang on with that. etc. etc.
The game went into overtime and finally they took advantage. They pushed a 2 point lead to 4 and a 4 point lead to 6 and a 6 point lead to 8, and that was just too much. Like they have all year, they focus and execute when the situation calls for it. While other teams fall away from their game plan when the going gets tough, the Celtics do not.
So, they finished the road trip with a very, very impressive 3-1 record, and now the C's come home to start a period of the season in which the team has a very good chance to distance themselves in the East. Their schedule from now until Christmas is very favorable. Hopefully they can get it done!
