I hate Keith Bogans. I know hate is a strong word but I mean it and most of the hate is because he starts. I know he doesn't play much maybe only 12-15 minutes a night but him being announced alongside Derrick Rose every night pains me.
Both Ronnie Brewer and Kyle Korver play more then Bogans but I'm not sure either is the answer to start. Both have been very productive off the bench and seem comfortable in their roles.
So I have a trade to purpose. One that will improve the shooting guard spot while also making the team deeper.
The Bulls take James Johnson and maybe their own first round pick and send it to Houston for Courtney Lee.
James Johnson is useless. He is not improving under the new coaching staff. Doesn't play most nights and only gets off the bench when fouls are an issue or the score is out of hand one way or another. JJ might benefit from a change of scenery.
Lee is someone who might benefit from finally finding a home and staying there awhile. Lee has been in the league three years and has spent each year with a different team. Everyone seems to like him and sorry to see him go but not enough to send him off. He has always been part of a bigger deal. The Magic sent him to New Jersey as part of the Vince Carter trade and then the Nets sent him to the Rockets as part of a huge four team that only involved five players with the main piece being Trevor Ariza being sent to the Hornets.
Courtney Lee is everything the Bulls want. He is 6'5 can shoot and play defense. For his career he is shooting 44.4% from the field including 37.7% from 3pt land but has shot over 40% in two out of three seasons. He also averages a steal per game. He has started 108 of his 182 NBA games. As an added bonus he also has NBA Finals experience with the Magic during his rookie year starting 16 of his 21 playoff games.
This could be the perfect fit for the Bulls. They get a more complete shooting guard while allowing Korver and Brewer to stay in their bench roles while moving Bogans to the end of the bench where he can maybe play 10 minutes a night. There might be bigger or flashier names out there but Courtney Lee might just be the right guy to play alongside Drose
