Man, you get this type of performance from Kentucky Joe, you HAVE to win. Blanton only allowed 1 earned runs in 7 innings and struck out a season high 9. His ERA still sits at 5.32, but he seems to be getting things together, only allowing 3 earned runs total in his last 2 starts. Ryan Madson took the loss on a controversial play that ended up getting Cholly tossed. Still, the loss drops Madson to 4-2. Hats off to wife beater Myers, you knew he was going to bring his A game for this start against the Phils and he got his 9th win on the year, striking out 9.
At the dish, Jayson Werth went 2 for 4, keeping his average over .300 on the year. However, he needs to WAKE THE FUCK UP. He continues to make stoner like blunders on the base paths. I've been watching baseball for 25 years, and this is the first time I ever saw someone get picked off on second while the were intentionally walking the guy at the plate. C'mon dude.
With the Cardinals blowing out the Pirates, the Phils will only have a 1 game lead on the wild card. Tomorrow, the Phils will send Cole Hamels against Bud Norris on Chooch bobblehead night. Norris is an Aaron Harang type pitcher, strikes out lots of guys, but gives up lots of runs.
