Brandon Jacobs has taken to twitter this week to show the world he wants to be a New York Giant again. As a fan this seems crazy to me. Would Jerry Reese take him back? According to reports in the New York Post, the Giants haven't ruled out the possibility.
On Monday, the Post published a screen shot from Jacobs’ Instagram account. The running back uploaded an image of himself bowling over a Patriots defender as a member of the Giants, with the caption, "Trying to get back in this uniform." It sent twitter a buzzing but according to sources who spoke with the New York Post on the subject said there has been no "formal" discussions between Giants organization and Brandon Jacobs.
“Don’t know who these sources are but there is nothing going on people,” Jacobs tweeted Tuesday morning, backtracking from his instragram post.
Jacobs was released by the Giants in March 2012 and landed with the San Francisco 49ers. His tenure as a 49er ended in controversy when he posted a picture of himself in a Giants uniform on Instagram and wrote, “I am on this team rotting away so why would I wanna put any pics up of anything that say niners. This is by far the worst year I ever had, I’ll tell you like I told plenty others.” He was suspended for the last 3 games of the season and was later released before the team's playoff run to the Super Bowl.
A knee injury forced Jacobs to miss the first 2 months of the season and after he came back, he was never a factor for the 49ers. He rushed 5 times for 7 yards. New York released Ahmad Bradshaw early in the offseason with David Wilson expecting to take on the #1 running back spot after an impressive rookie season.
