Brad Keselowski dominated the Nationwide Series race from Kansas Speedway today leading 173 of 200 laps in the Kansas Lottery 300. Keselowski started second, took the lead on lap eight and basically never looked back. However, Keselowski's road to the win wasn't as easy as it seemed. He stalled the car on a pit stop under caution near the half-way point of the race. He restarted in 14th, but was back in the lead five laps later. At one point Keselowski had a lead of nearly eight and a half seconds.
Carl Edwards had a fast car after starting on the pole, but just wasn't fast enough to catch Keselowski. He gave Keselowski a good fight on the final restart, but Keselowski just drove away after about three laps.
Elliott Sadler managed to finish third and gain two points on points leader Ricky Stenhouse Jr, but he also faced issues throughout the race. Sadler complained of brake issues. At one point he had smoke in the cockpit of the car and was being plagued by a very strange smell. He said he was scared to touch the brakes because he was unsure of what would happen. But the team got the issue fixed around halfway and he was able to drive to the front.
Ricky Stenhouse came home with a fifth place finish after struggling throughout much of the race. His car did not handle the way he would have liked it to, but the team got it fixed and he drove from ninth to fifth on the final run of the race. It seemed like Sadler would gain a good amount of points on Stenhouse, but Stenhouse was able to reduce the damage by coming home with a top five.
Notes:
Aric Almirola and Brian Scott were unhappy with each other at the end of the race with the way that they raced each other. They got into a very heated argument on pit road after the race and had to be separted by their crews.
Finishing Order:
1) Brad Keselowski
2) Carl Edwards
3) Elliott Sadler
4) Paul Menard
5) Ricky Stenhouse Jr
Points Battle:
Stenhouse
2) Sadler (-20)
