The Quinnipiac softball team finished competition in the Under Armour Invitational, in Clearwater, Fla., on Sunday. The Bobcats ended with a 2-1 recorded in tournament play and 6-10 overall. Heather Schwartzburg led the way for the Bobcats Sunday, striking out 13 Jacksonville State batter en route to a 2-0 victory. Kelly Wall’s 2-run double in the first inning gave Schwartzburg all the support she needed. She allowed only 5 hits and earned her second shutout of the tournament.
Schwartzburg’s first shutout came against Pittsburgh on Friday. She again struck out 13 batters, allowing only one hit in the Bobcats 3-0 win. All three suns scored on Katie Allendorfer’s first homerun of the season in the sixth inning.
In their first game Friday, The Bobcats were unable to push across any runs as they fell to Central Michigan 7-0. The Chippewas scored three times in the first inning to gain the early lead and added three more in the sixth to seal the win. Amanda Patrick’s 3-run homerun highlighted the offensive attack of the Chippewas.
The Bobcats next game is their home opener against UConn.
