Well it’s official, The Mets will still be paying Bobby Bonillia long after I have died. According to our friend John Fennelly , of Bleacher Report.com-is reporting that one of the Mets biggest busts from the last twenty years - Bobby Bonilla , will be collecting a paycheck from the Mets until the year 2035 when he turns 72 years old.
The Mets wanted to get rid of Bonilla so badly, they agreed to a mind numbingly stupid 25-year deferred deal that starts in 2010 and does not end until 2035, when Bonilla is 72-years-old. Bonillia last played with the Mets in ‘99 . So in essence Bobby will be the most expensive Mets contract ever to be doled out !! So I guess thats what he meant by trying to wipe the smile off his face . To quote Joe Benigno - ” OHHH THE PAIN!!!!”
