Blackhawks to sell melted United Center ice for charity
The Chicago Blackhawks announced they will sell vials of United Center's ice in an attempt to raise money for charities. The ice, which will be melted down into liquid form, will serve as a piece of Blackhawks history following the 2013 Stanley Cup victory.
The price of the souvenir has yet to be set.
"At the end of the season, the crew at the United Center goes about their job of melting and removing the home ice from the floor.
"Its a moment that passes with little fanfare or recognition. All the amazing moments that took place on that ice literally go down the drain. This year, we decided to do something different. We were on-hand for the ice removal to document the occasion and save a few precious pieces of that magical home ice.
"And we want to share it with you. We're producing an extremely limited number of souvenir packages with the actual melted ice from the United Center floor and we're selling them to raise money for Chicago Blackhawks Charities," says ChicagoBlackhawks.com.
