ANOTHER walk off win against Broxton. What an amazing finish for this team that refuses to die.
The bullpen did get hit tonight, that is a fact. However, the real problem is the horrible outings that Joe Blanton continues to put together. He might have only allowed 4 earned runs but he gave up 8 hits and 4 walks in under 6 innings and left the bases loaded when he was pulled. His ERA for the year now sits at 5.69. It's actually higher than Baez's ERA, who got his 3rd win of the year to improve to 3-3.
At the dish, Raul went 0-5 ending his hitting streak, it was great while it lasted. The Phils were down 9-2 in this one and managed an amazing comeback made possible by Casey Blake's best Bill Buckner impression in the 9th off of what should have been a double play ball. Instead, no outs remained, setting the stage for a Chooch led comeback. Ruiz went 3 for 5, just narrowly missing a walk off home run on his game winning double. He's now hitting .294 on the season and has 30 RBI, a great total considering he had 13 only two weeks ago.
The Phillies will now travel to Citi Field to take on the Mets in a 3 game series. R.A. Dickey will take on Cole Hamels at 7:05 as each of them go for their 8th win on the year.
