Purely out of boredom I am going to start running a "Best Of" series. I don't really have a plan but I'm sure everything will go smooth. All of the summer action has pretty much smoothed itself out and reached completion so we are struggling and digging to find anything interesting to write about.
For me... I really thought this past postseason was exciting so I am going to relive part of it by today doing the Best Game of Round 1 vs. the Miami Heat.
GAME 1
Celtics- 85 Heat- 76
You may be surprised that I found this to be the Game of the series, and it is certainly open for debate. However, I thought this game was bigger than Game 3 (the game in which Paul Pierce hit the game winning shot at the buzzer) because it had much more overall meaning and implications for the upcoming rounds in the playoffs.
Game one of the playoffs was the black hole filled with a combination of question marks, doubts, and even anticipation. The doubts were on the forefront of most everyones minds until late in the third quarter, when after being down by as much as 14 points, the Celtics clicked and rose from their month(s) long coma.
The scuffle broke out late in the 4th between Garnett and Quentin Richardson to raise the stakes and meaning in the series. Suddenly a meaningless series turned into an interesting series that brought about the question "Just what are the Celtics capable of doing in these playoffs?"
I put this game above Game 3 because Pierce's shot made the series 3-0 at a time in which visually the Celtics looked like the better team anyway. To me, Game 1 against the Heat was the defining moment for the entire playoffs. It set the tone for what was coming.
