Bengals Have No Reason To Rush Antonio Bryant

Earlier this preseason the Bengals signed former Buccaneers wide receiver Antonio Bryant out of free agency. Bryant had problems with his knee last season which should have put a white flag up for the Bengals, but they proceeded without thinking once again.

It was the first day of camp that they let Bryant practice and on that same day he aggravated his knee injury and has been sidelined since.

You haven't really heard much about Bryant because of the other addition at wide receiver in Terrell Owens, but undoubtedly Bryant is there getting paid to heal his injury.

Carson Palmer seems to be in sync with Owens and after just the second preseason game Ocho Uno has been the numero uno target.

Against Denver a lot of young players stepped their game up and have proven that this offense is not going to have the same problems it did last season.

After being questioned about his knee injury Antonio Bryant said it's feeling better and right now he's trying to be forgotten. This hasn't been the issue because he hasn't been much of a topic thus far.

The Bengals training staff made a mistake in having him practice the first day and now they need to work to not make the same mistake again. Let Bryant heal his knee completely so that he can be of some use later on in the season.

It would be an amazing thing to have him out there on the field with Chad Ochocinco and Terrell Owens, but let this be a chance to some of the younger players that have something to prove.

Terrell Owens will not be on this team for a long term contract and that is when Bryant can have his big shot.

Right now the Bengals have the problem of too much talent and I'm sure the competitive side of Bryant wants to get on that field and go to work but he needs to heal up so we can use him later on.

With Matt Jones, Andre Caldwell, and Jordan Shipley all fighting for the slot receiver position its going to be very interesting to see who the Bengals use. As of right now I think the rookie out of Texas has the edge because Shipley has adapted very well so far in the NFL.

After the Bengals released Shane Graham to the Ravens I can't help but wonder what would have happened if the franchise tagged TJ Houshmandzadeh instead last season.

The Bengals had a lack of productive receivers last season which was the biggest weakness for the team. This year you add new talent and the same quarterback that had the Bengals nicknamed the Cardiac Cats and there will be fireworks this season. Hopefully we see more of the offense on Friday against Philly.
