Bears Quarterback Matt Blanchard Breaks Hand vs. Chargers
In tonight's preseason game against the San Diego Chargers, Chicago Bears quarterback Matt Blanchard sustained a broken hand and was taken out of the game with x-rays showing that he had indeed broken his hand vs. San Diego.
Matt Blanchard who has been with the Chicago Bears the past 2 seasons has been mainly a practice squad player for the team and were working on hopefully pushing him to be on the main roster sometime during his tenure with the Chicago Bears.
The broken hand injury might have just cost Blanchard his roster spot. With many media outlets projecting that the Chicago Bears will be going after free agent quarterback JaMarcus Russell who has not played in the league since 2009 after spending 3 horrendous seasons in Oakland.
The Bears earlier this offseason were looking at Russell but nothing seemed imminent at the time so the team decided to pass on Russell for now. But with Blanchard being sidelined the conversations for Russell could pickup.
