As fans continue to count down the days till the 2014 race season, schedules continue to begin surfacing. Barrie Speedway is the latest track to reveal their 2014 schedule.
Featuring Pure Stocks, Thunder Cars and double 30 lap Late Model features each week, Barrie produces an action-packed event for the fans every weekend. With the Thunder Car title coming down to a tiebreaker last year, there's no doubt that the competition is close on a weekly basis.
Barrie Speedway will kick their season off on Saturday May 3rd with their season opener - featuring all three regular divisions, as well as King of the Hill. Barrie has KOTH on a weekly basis, allowing fans to race against each other in one-on-one races on the race track during intermission. On the weekly schedule, it should be noted that July 5th is Midseason Championship night, which will see extended features. The final points night will also take place on September 13th.
Along with regular weekly racing, there will be some touring divisions visiting other nights.
The Legend touring series will try out the tough short track on May 24th.
The Lucas Oil Can-Am Midgets will bring their high open-wheel speed to Barrie on July 19th, while the Hurricane Midgets will visit on August 16th.
Another special night for the fans will be June 28th and August 30th as they are Fan Appreciation Nights, with drivers signing autographs for the kids before the racing action kicks off.
Barrie's weekly divisions will have two weeks off, however the track will be in operation with a pair of special events.
The first event takes places on June 14th when Barrie plays host to the OSCAAR Super Late Models and OSCAAR Modifieds. Last year, the SLMs put on an impressive show, going 50 laps on the tight bullring with only one caution.
The second event takes place on September 6th with the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series' Hudco 300. Last year's event saw a thrilling race at the end between Jason Hathaway, D.J. Kennington and J.R. Fitzpatrick with Hathaway taking the win.
With the track points wrapped up on September 13th, the post-season begins. Barrie Speedway will once again kick off the post-race season with their Garry Reynolds Memorial Invitational, featuring the late models, thunder cars and pure stocks.
