Team Scouting Report: The Colorado Avalanche are 11-8-3 at home this season wile the Detroit Redwings have been struggling of late; The Wings are just 1-4-2 is their last seven games. The Avalanche are 2-5-2 since rattling off six consecutive wins from Dec. 10-19. Both teams have been struggling lately and only one can turn their luck around.
Player Scouting Report: Rookie defenceman Kevin Shattenkirk has been getting plenty of power-play time, but he won't play against Detroit because of a foot injury he suffered blocking a shot Saturday against the New York Islanders. Aves goaltender Peter Budaj will get the nod against Detroit; Budaj is 10-6-3 this season with 20 games played in for the Aves. He lets by an average of 3.03 goals against a game. He has a save percentage of .899 (89.9%). Budaj has played pretty well this season but in the past 5 games he has a record of 1-1-2, a save percentage of .898(89.8%) and a goals against average of 3.20. His abilities of late have been good but his team has been lacking defence. Their Defence has let by to many shot resulting in to many goals a game.
Keys to the Game:
1.)Get lots of shots on Peter Budaj- Budaj has been pretty consistant but the more shot isn't resulting in more saves. So if you get alot of shot on him, he will let by lots goals. Detroit should get atleast 33 shots against Budaj
2.)Play a hard 60 minutes and keep rotation in shifts- Both teams have struggled of late so Detroit has to play a hard working 60 minutes and keep fresh players out on the ice.
3)Win the faceoffs- Detroit needs to keep the puck in the Aves end so the Ales grow tired wile the Wings rotate players somewhat often.
