What a homestand the Angels are coming off of. The Halos took 5 of the 7 games against the Minnesota Twins and Toronto Blue Jays.

The highlight of course was Jered Weaver's no-hitter on Wednesday against the Minnesota Twins. Weaver was fantastic allowing only two base runners while striking out 9. A defensive gem at third base by Mark Trumbo early in the game was the only chance the Twins had.

The wait is over, Albert Pujols has hit his first Angel homer. Sunday "The Machine" delivered exactly what the team and fans needed, a 3-run homerun to give the Angels a lead 4-1 lead. Pujols returned to an empty dugout as Mike Scioscia and Torii Hunter hustled their teammates into the tunnel to rib the elated Pujols.

Los Angeles heads to Minnesota with Jered Weaver matching up against Francisco Liriano. With Weaver facing the same team in back to back starts and Liriano's traditional struggles against the Halos, this could be a barn burner.

Tuesday - Dan Haren (1-2, 3.43) vs. Scott Diamond (0-0, 0.00)

Wednesday - Ervin Santana (0-6, 5.59) vs. Carl Pavano (2-2, 4.62)

Unfortunately the Angels could be headed on the road trip without key relievers Scott Downs and LaTroy Hawkins. Downs injured his knee trying to field a comebacker and had to be removed from Sunday's game. Hawkins replaced Downs and got the final two outs. On the game ending out, Hawkins tried to field a ground ball and broke his right pinky finger. Expect new Angel Ernesto Frieri to get closing opportunities.

Frieri (26) was acquired on Thursday from the San Diego Padres for INF Alexi Amarista and RHP Donn Roach.
