Before I begin, let me share a funny, yet sad story.
While I was on a certain website doing some research on Mr. Cody, I encountered an ad with a Cardinals jersey on it. The price was about 44 dollars.
I was like, "Man, that's a good deal! I can't believe they have an Antrel Rolle jersey for 44 dol...wait."
It's been a long offseason.
That being said, I'm pumped for the draft in less than a month. I'm sure the Arizona Cardinals are as well, as their last few drafts have proved to be fairly successful.
Terrence Cody would prove to be a big pick for the Cardinals at number 26.
I mean that literally.
Cody is a space eater. No question about it.
The stats probably don't even tell the whole story: Alabama did not allow more than 100 yards by a single running back in Cody's time there.
That would help the Cardinals run defense.
He would definitely be a great change of pace to Bryan Robinson. He could come in on first and second down and Robinson would not be so overworked.
Mt. Cody would also be an intriguing goal line option. He played the role of "Fridge" Perry while at Alabama- lined up at fullback for the Tide in goal line situations.
It would be hard to tackle Beanie Wells or Tim Hightower when you see 350 pounds coming at you.
He would also be a great help to the special teams, as he was able to block a couple of kicks while at Alabama.
On the flip side, however, Cody's pass rush skills are not very good. He only had a half sack in his time at 'Bama. The Cardinals are desperate to get more pressure on the QB, and Cody wouldn't fulfill that need.
As well, Cody's character has been called into question. He's made some foolish off-field choices, and has had a lot of weight issues.
Cody's credentials and extra abilities may be too much for the Cards to pass up in the first round, however. And if anyone can get Cody into shape, it's John Lott, the Cardinals conditioning coach.
