With Amar’e Stoudemire “unofficially” but officially inked to a deal with the New York Knicks on a 5 year/$100 deal who is next? LeBron James? Dwayne Wade? Trade for Chris Paul? Trade for Tony Parker? Only time will tell who will follow Stoudemire to Madison Square Garden but in the words of Amar’e “The Knicks are back.”
Even if the Knicks do not sign another big free agent or don’t somehow trade for CP3 or Tony Parker it is a successful summer. It is a success because the Knicks now have added a 4 time All Star with averages of 21 and 9 in the regular season and 25 and 10 in the playoffs. Plenty has been said about Stoudemire because he has plenty of haters knocking him saying he would be nothing with out Nash. However, the season before Steve Nash became a Sun for his second tenure, Stoudemire only averaged 20 and 9 as a 21 year old with Stephon Marbury as his point guard not to mention with two different coaches. Bottom line is Amar’e Stoudemire is a great player with amazing ability and he does not need a hall of fame point guard to be great for the New York Knicks. Yes having a hall of fame point guard would obviously help Amar’e Stoudemire (Chris Paul or Tony Parker) but can you tell me what player that would not help?
It is an exciting time to be a Knick fan because the Knicks have now signed the best player they have had since Patrick Ewing.
Stoudemire to New York has been rumored for days but I have not written about it until now because I need to hear it from the players mouth that he is signed. There are way to many reports from all different types of sports new sources that it is making this summers free agency period lose its buzz a little.
