I think that school districts around the country have an avenue to generate some much needed revenue to help with their budget shortfalls. I got the idea while at tending a high school basketball game awhile back and kind of forgot about it until recently. I went to the concession stand and looked up and the game was being shown on a television like the big arenas have. Now I will lay my idea out for you.
- Sell DVD copies to the parents whose children play sports, like a yearbook
- After tryouts are over and you have the roster set send home an order slip to the parents
- You can fit a whole football season on a disc
- Offer it if it’s a sport that your coaches or school film
- Example: Charge $59.95 for a disc and package deals for more buys
- So many people are not able to be at every game b/c of work or lives in another state and this is the perfect gift for grandparents
- Think of how many student athletes are in your school, boys and girls
- You can even live stream your sports on video and charge a small fee for access to watch the game online
- To go a step further you can even sell replica jerseys for the parents and loved ones to buy
- The jersey sales can be done on a per order basis and cost nothing to the school b/c there are companies who will process the orders and send them out for you and you get a split of the money it doesn’t get any better than that!
The DVD’s can be done at the school and that has very little cost associated with it. I really think this can work and help to keep school programs from being dropped b/c of budget issues.
