A Happy Flight Makes Up for Game 2
After a disappointing scoreboard for the Cardinals yesterday, what could be better than to bounce right back?
Sure, Wainwright looked great in his long-awaited return to the mound, but unfortunately Zack Greinke got the better of us. He and Corey Hart used their combined powers to put our undefeated butts back in line, as they took the game 6-0. And believe me, when it comes to the Brewers, I hate having to say that.
But this afternoon was a different story! One much more fitting to our tastes...With the likes of Tyler Greene, Tony Cruz, Matt Carpenter, and Shane Robinson backing up Lance Lynn, there were some of what you might call “previously unsung” heroes out there.
Lynn turned in an expert performance, easing the tensions of all when it comes to the unknown status of ace Chris Carpenter’s pained back (no relation to his aforementioned teammate). Shane Robinson went 3 for 5 with a 3-run homer. And veterans Matt Holliday, Rafael Furcal, and Carlos Beltran proved their worth, the latter with his second bomb of the season. All to turn in a 9-3 winner!
And so we sit atop the NL Central with a 3-1 record. We’ve conquered the Brewers, but now we face the other team that threatens to take the pennant. Look out, Joey Votto and Cincinnati! Here we come!
