A few Saturday Celtics links

You know those things that they call "link dumps"? Well, I have pretty much given up on daily link dumps here at Gino's Jungle. Everytime I think we have someone really good at it, they leave us because they're too busy or too good for us. I'd like to think it's usually the first one out of those two.

Anyways, instead of doing a daily links dump (mostly because I don't have the time) every so often I'm going to compile a list of links from around the web for your enjoyment. I'm not even going to come up with some cheesy title for it, it's just going to be straight forward and simple. You want some good Celtics material to read?

Well, here you go.

Bob Ryan (Boston Globe) - Once more, with healing

This much we know: it was all worth it. The scoresheet after three years is one championship, one Game 7 loss in the second round (without Kevin Garnett), and one excruciating Game 7 loss in the Finals. What president of basketball operations Danny Ainge did by taking enticing young talent and draft picks (you’re free to factor in the largesse of Kevin McHale) and turning a 24-58 team that had lost 18 straight into an instant champion will go down as one of the great managerial maneuvers ever.

Chris Forsberg (ESPN Boston) - Leftovers: 'Gody takes the cake

Harangody wasn't in danger of developing a big head, but his teammates took him down a peg, anyhow. Harangody joined the rest of the Celtics' rookies in singing Happy Birthday to

Paul Pierce, Jermaine O'Neal, and coach Doc Rivers after Wednesday's game (the trio were all born on Oct. 13). For good measure, he also had to grab the box containing the chocolate-frosted cake and lug it to the team bus as he departed the locker room.

Dr. John Naranja (CLNS) - New Rules on Player Behavior Come Under Legal Attack: I Have A Solution

If the goal is to really clean up the complaining, a better way might be to create two types of technicals:  T1′s, the usual technical, and T2′s, a technical related to complaining.  T1′s would be administered in the standard way as described above.  But, T2′s would be reviewable by the league for their appropriateness, and fines would still be in effect.  The difference would be to eliminate their use in games as a reason for ejection or suspension.

In other words, if we look back at the game with Garnett, he would have received 2 T2′s, but would not have been ejected.  Those T2′s would also be reviewed by the league for “appropriateness”.  This attempts to clean up the game through the fines, but without the risk of adversely effecting the game should there be a mistaken call.

Nick Gelso (North Station Sports) - The NBA is...

Stern and Jackson’s new edicts look to be directed at the big names in the league. LeBron James, Dwight Howard, Kobe Bryant and the entire Celtics starting five are all notorious for facial expressions and arm flailing. But really, how can a human zebra (more like star ship trooper) determine a person’s intent by the expression on their face. An official is to judge incidents that affect game-play. Does a facial expression affect anything more than a referee’s ego or feelings?

Jay King (Celtics Town) - Von Wafer made his case for the final roster spot last night

Von Wafer, I just want to say thanks for last night. Thanks for (finally) hitting a shot, and then hitting a few more. Thanks for maintaining control on (most of) your dervishes to the hoop, and for kicking out a few times to open shooters. You’re a better passer than I realized back when you played for Houston, so I suppose I should thank you for that too.
