Argentine Carlos Monzón Roque debuted as a professional boxer in the Club Sportivo Ben Hur in Rafaela, Santa Fe, knocking out Ramon Montenegro, in two brief rounds. Seven years later (1970), the idol of Argentine won the world middleweight championship in Rome, Italy, by a KO victory over Nino Benvenuti. In the same year, he was recognized as the best fighter by "The Ring" magazine in New York.
