In the 2010 Northwestern Tournament of Generations opener, the '04 Wildcats (12th seed, 6-6) ran out to a 26-0 lead and coasted to a 61-14 win over the '73 squad (21st seed, 4-7). The '04 quarterback Brett Basanez was named the game's MVP. Basanez, a junior from Arlington Heights, completed 21 of 32 passes for 311 yards with 2 TDs and rushed 16 times for 59 net yards with another TD. Tailback Noah Herron led the '04ers in rushing with 142 yards on 30 carries and 3 TDs. As for the '73ers, RB Stan Key accumulated 96 yards on 14 rushes and LB Mike Varty racked up a game-high 17 tackles plus an interception.
